Go To Top after Parma Loss Real Madrid have moved to the top
of the Euro league table, albeit on goal difference from Parma as the long
run out on their own ends for the Italian side. Ajax was the conquerors of
Parma in Italy to see the Spanish giants go into pole position by a solitary
goal. Madrid’s 3-2 home win over rivals AC Milan takes them back to the top of the
table, thanks to a winner from midfielder Deco. Totti
and Hargreaves had scored for the home side to cancel out efforts from Mata
and Inler for AC Milan who is trying hard to get
back into the title shake up. This loss leaves them now eight points behind
their hosts in their bid for a Euro league title. Parma now have
to share the leadership after going down at home by the same 3-2 scoreline to
Dutch side Ajax. Who as a result of their win move into fourth position and
seven points off the title pace. Argentine international
Pablo Aimar got the fifth and decisive goal of any
open contest in Italy to leave the top two sides out on their own, a full six points clear of Barcelona in third place. The Neu Camp
side could not take full advantage of the losses to rivals after a disappointing
2-2 draw at Porto. Magrao and Ricardo Carvalho got the goals for the travelling Spaniards but a
brace of goals from Tim Cahill for the home side was enough to see a share of
the points and keep Porto out of the relegation spots, on goal difference
from Atletico Madrid. Managerless Inter Milan continue to
pull themselves clear of the relegation fight after a 1-0 home win over
bottom of the table Valencia. Juan Riquelme got the
only goal of the game for the Italians to see them into a mid table position
after a shaky start to the season. Liverpool lost ground on the top BFL
leaders after being held to a 1-1 draw at home by Celtic this week. Aussie
striker Scott McDonald got the goal for the travelling Glaswegians, with
Aaron Lennon salvaging a point for the Anfield Club. They remain in third
place in the standings, but now have a four point gap to close to make the Champions
league qualifications. Favourites Manchester United also move level with them
on points as a result of the draw. A 2-1 win at Spurs sees Man United
continue their good form, but still need Chelsea and champions Arsenal to
slip up at the top of the table. No sign of such a slip up just lately
as Chelsea stay two points clear of the champions Arsenal after both won
their games this turn. A 3-1 home win over West Ham maintains Chelsea’s two
point advantage form their closest rivals. Joe Cole scored twice for the home
side, with Emile Heskey also on the scoresheet.
Midfielder Mark Noble got a consolation goal for the travelling side. Arsenal kept pace with Chelsea with a
win on the road at Everton. A tight affair was settled by midfielder Fernandes getting the only goal of the game for the
travelling team and keep Arsenal into second place in the standings. Manchester City seem adrift in fifth
position, and are five points behind Man United in fourth place despite a 2-0
win over Newcastle United this turn. However anther seven points separate
them from sixth placed Everton so the Eastland’s club seem destined for a
fifth placed finish at present. Bayern Munich continue on course for an immediate return to the EURO 1,
despite being held to a 2-2 draw at home by compatriots Werder Bremen. Their
visitors are hoping to overtake Anderlecht and join their hosts in the top
flight next season. Transfer
